War in the North Character Switching Explained

Learn how Legacy Edition solo character switching changes party control, equipment checks, encounter planning, and the limits of current evidence.

8/14/2026 Last updated: 8/14/2026

Legacy Edition is reported to let solo players switch instantly among Eradan, Andriel, and Farin. This addresses a central solo-play limitation by allowing direct control of the role needed now instead of relying only on companion AI.

Status: Current feature is supported by release discussion; exact controls and restrictions can vary by platform.

What we know

  • Switching is a solo optimization, not proof that three local players are supported.
  • Each hero keeps a distinct role, gear set, and skill plan.
  • A switch can solve positioning or ability access but does not replace party preparation.

What to do now

  1. Keep all three heroes equipped rather than funneling every useful item to one character.
  2. Switch before a role-specific interaction or when AI positioning becomes unsafe.
  3. After a transition, verify the selected hero and any platform-specific switch prompt.

Evidence boundary

The original release and Legacy Edition do not have identical solo control assumptions. Platform control prompts should be rechecked in the current build.
